Breitling

Few watch brands have explored the relationship between aviation, motorsport and mechanical chronographs as extensively as Breitling. The Navitimer remains immediately recognisable for its slide-rule bezel and detailed dial, while the Chronomat takes a more muscular approach to the traditional sports chronograph.

The Superocean collection offers something different, particularly in its Heritage versions, where vintage-inspired design meets a more contemporary case and movement. The Top Time, meanwhile, brings colour and an unmistakable motorsport influence into Breitling’s collection.

This section follows those different design directions through new releases, historical references and replica watch comparisons. Our articles examine dial arrangements, case construction, bezels, straps and the finishing details that give each collection its identity.

We also look at the limitations of replica interpretations. A familiar dial or case shape does not necessarily mean that a watch has the movement, construction or water-resistance rating of the Breitling original.
